Online Tutoring
The STC-DHSI grant also allowed for expanded tutoring services. Given the height of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, the year the grant was awarded, the extended tutoring services were offered at a time when the entire institution was pivoting to an entire online platform for course instruction and student support services. The grant allowed for the investment of virtual tutoring kits, the hiring of three, institutionalized (funded by the college) fully remote tutors, and a grant-funded Learning Excellence Specialist for Online Programs. To align with the Title V program tenet of sustaining services and operational assets, this position will be institutionalized after grant expiration. As required under the grant’s scope of work, the tutors design content-specific resources utilizing interactive PDFs, comic strips and videos to tutor, instruct and engage students.
