About Dr. Ricardo J. Solis
Ricardo J. Solis, Ph.D., has served in numerous academic leadership capacities, but presently he is the President of South Texas College, the largest college in South Texas.
Prior to STC he served as president of Laredo College and executive dean at Gateway of Maricopa Community Colleges, the largest college system in the U.S. He has also served as executive director for International Initiatives at Houston Community College System, the largest college system in Texas, where he managed all global projects including the unique campus partnership in Qatar and the programs in Saigon and Mexico. Moreover, for three years he served as dean of Workforce Instruction at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas.
Prior to entering the higher education field, Solis was actively involved for over 20 years in economic and workforce development globally within both public and private sectors. Dr. Solis has worked in numerous leadership capacities and has successfully transitioned his industry expertise into community college administration.
Solis earned a doctorate in Higher Education Administration from The University of Texas at Austin, an MBA in International Management from The Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterrey, California and bachelor's degree, as a double major, in Business and Economics from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas.
