Media Relations

Positive news reports and articles about colleges are often the result of media relations strategies. We depend on you to tell us what is happening so we can pass it along. All queries and contacts from the news media must be directed to The Office of Public Relations and Marketing.

News releases can be prepared for upcoming events or as feature stories. Timeliness is critical.  If you have an upcoming event, we need two-weeks lead-time to prepare the news release and distribute to the various media agencies.

News releases should not be sent by anyone in the College without prior clearance from The Office of Public Relations and Marketing.

Photography

The Office of Public Relations and Marketing provides photographic services for college related events when possible.

Please contact The Office of Public Relations and Marketing’s coordinator of public relations at least 72 hours in advance to schedule a photographer for your event.

Although every attempt is made to provide photographic services for the College, it is not always possible to cover every event.

The Office of Public Relations and Marketing accepts submissions of digital photographs. The digital photograph along with a brief description of the event and names of those in the photograph should be e-mailed to prnews@southtexascollege.edu.

The formats that are accepted include: jpeg, tiff, eps, and/or pdf. The resolution should be no less than 150 dpi.

Special Events

Special events offer the opportunity to further positive community relations.

The Office of Public Relations and Marketing can help you plan your event and make sure every detail is taken into account to make it as pleasant and productive as possible.

Specifically, we will help you ensure that:

  • the optimum location is chosen.
  • the best values are negotiated for catering, rental equipment, etc.
  • all printed materials are coordinated with the event and are available when and where needed.
  • appropriate media releases are issued.
  • appropriate audio/visual equipment is available.
  • entertainment is arranged as needed.
