Financial aid fairs in Weslaco, McAllen, Rio Grande City
South Texas College will host financial aid fairs at three campus locations the first week in March. The college offers numerous financial aid programs that make college affordable for those who qualify. Special assistance is available at STC’s Mid-Valley Campus in Weslaco on Tuesday, March 3, at STC’s Pecan Campus in McAllen on Wednesday, March 4, and at STC’s Starr County Campus in Rio Grande City on Thursday, March 5. Each fair will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The STC financial aid staff will be available to explain federal and state programs, veteran's assistance, federal work study opportunities and a variety of other grants and financial aid programs. STC staff will also provide assistance with filling out and filing forms and course registration for the summer and fall semesters.
Those attending the fair should bring a copy of their 2008 tax return, or if a dependent, a parent's 2008 tax return. A parent's signature is required for dependents. Also, it is recommended that those interested in applying for aid bring a copy of their social security card, a state issued ID, driver's license or resident alien card and proof of other income benefits.
