South Texas College signs agreement with The University of Texas at Dallas

Administrators from South Texas College and The University of Texas at Dallas signed an agreement to allow for the seamless transfer of student credits from STC to UTD toward any bachelor’s degree program.

“South Texas College is committed to providing educational opportunities for our students and communities in South Texas; however, there are students who are very interested in degrees that are not currently offered in our region. As a premier institution of higher learning, it is one of our responsibilities to create those pathways for those students,” said Juan Mejia, STC vice president for academic affairs.

We currently offer more than 100 degree and certificate options to our more than 20,000 thousand students and have articulation agreements with more than 50 institutions so that our students can pursue all of their academic goals. UTD, aside from being a high caliber institution, has developed an initiative which creates a partnership with all community colleges in the state of Texas.”

Under the terms of the agreement UTD will provide opportunities for STC students from applicable programs. UTD has opened their doors and plans to sponsor and coordinate campus visits to their Dallas, Texas Campus.

Additionally, UTD will offer STC students and graduates a seamless transfer process, including transcript sharing services and joint academic advising. The university plans to provide STC status reports about the progress of the students that transfer to UTD. They will also offer students the opportunity to reverse transfer credits to STC in order to fulfill graduation requirements, enabling students to earn their associate’s degree from the college after transferring to UTD. Lastly, UTD will work with STC to develop sound financial aid packages and scholarship opportunities to benefit STC students interested in studying at UTD.

“We are highly impressed with South Texas College and amazed by its progression since its inception in 1993. We are so proud to partner with such a great institution,” said Dr. David Daniel, UTD president. “UTD was founded to be a premier school focused on upper-level academics and accepting transfer students from other colleges and universities. So we have a rich history of accepting community college students and seeing them flourish under our rich academic standards. We are confident that any student attending STC will benefit from furthering their education at UTD and will make a great match for our institution. We look forward to a long partnership that will benefit South Texas immensely.”
